Habitat for refugees

This Habitat was designed in the frame of the workshops of the School of Architecture in the Institute of Technology in Wroclaw, Poland, under the directives of Professor Zbigniew Bac. Its conception is adapted to assist people who survived the natural disasters of the tsunami and earthquake in the Philippines, Nepal and wars’ fighting in Somalia, Sudan and Syria. The idea is that those thousands of people who became homeless could in a inexpensive, fast way and by their own means, create for themselves a temporary habitat. Grouping four square units around one hexagon allows building quickly an effective habitat for unlimited amount of people. These modular units could be built using local and lightweight materials. The modular plan could adapt to various environments. Habitat project was praised by UNESCO and UNWRA but never built in fact.
